Spoken Chinese Lessons

This course is designed to improve your skills of conducting Chinese conversations. In this course, you will learn Chinese pronunciation, words, phrases and grammars and learn to speak Chinese fluently in daily situations. This course is structured in 6 levels, ranging from icebreaker to advanced learners.

1. Icebreaker

For absolute beginners with little or very limited knowledge of mandarin and find it difficult to communicate in social Chinese conversations.

Target

  • A good command of pinyin - initials, finals and tones.
  • Master 500 words and expressions.
  • Grasp basic phrases and sentences used in social contact.
  • Be able to communicate on familiar topics such as saying hello, greeting, buying things, asking ways, time and date, etc.

    2. Threshold

    For beginner who have a preliminary ability of Chinese speaking and listening and have mastered at least 500 vocabularies. Proficiency is needed in mandarin expression.

  • Enhance on mandarin pronunciation and be able to speak conversational Chinese in a relatively fluent manner.
  • Master 1,000 vocabularies.
  • Grasp more basic Chinese grammars and sentence structures.
  • Be able to communicate on topics such as telling directions, dining out, ordering food, hobbies, experiences, etc.

    3. Beginner

    For beginner students who have a basic ability of Chinese speaking and have mastered at least 1,000 vocabularies. A Lack of efficiency may make you stumble when speaking Chinese.

  • Be able to speak Chinese efficiently and confidently.

  • A good handle of commonly used grammars in Chinese.
  • Be able to conduct Chinese conversations on such topics as travelling, making phone calls, comparing things, seeing doctors, trouble, transportation, farewell, etc.

    4. Intermediate

    For those with a vocabulary of 1,500 and have an average ability in learning conversational Chinese. Not as flexible as it should be in speaking Chinese.

  • Have a good flexibility in expressing yourself in Chinese.

  • Be able to speak Chinese efficiently without big grammatical mistakes.
  • Be able to share ideas on topics including making plans, paying visits, making complaints, service, traffic, health, etc.

    5. Upper Intermediate

    For those who have a general ability in speaking mandarin with a mastery of at least 2,000 vocabularies. Have difficulty in using Chinese in complex situations.

  • Be able to speak mandarin relatively well and deal with complex Chinese conversations.
  • A mastery of 2,500 vocabularies and expressions.
  • A good command of Chinese grammars in complex sentences.
  • Be able to speak on topics such as shopping, friendship, body fitness, sports, jobs, Chinese family, seeing a patient, good and bad habits, etc.

    6. Advanced

    For advanced learners who have a fairly good ability of both speaking and listening comprehension. Mastered at least 2,500 vocabularies and want to get one step further to speak Chinese fluently and freely.

  • Be able to use grammars accurately in speaking and writing.

  • Be able to talk freely on more topics such as watching games, seasons, exams, taking pills, family affairs, inviting people to dinner, etc.
